where to begin,
it's been said, "may
you live in interesting times..." right now is a powerful example of what
that can mean. those of you who follow the goings on of our little project know
that it has been a tough year for us in the EID camp. along with the growing
pains of a band trying to make it happen while holding full time jobs and full
time lives, our family has also been blessed with the coming birth of eric and
juli's baby. in preparation, we've tried to play as many shows as possible
before the due date to allow them some time to get settled with B.A. (baby
almanza).
that came out to be 36
shows in 21 cities over 6 months in 5 states completed by 4 members of EID and
1 giant support team that has made it possible. like it or not, if you're
reading this, you are part of that support system. sincerest thanks to each and
all.
now that july is upon us
and B.A. will join the family any day now, things have slowed down (for us, not
most bands...). while we won't be playing our usual blitzkreig of shows all
over the map, we do have the honor of playing with more high profile bands than
ourselves of late.
that being said, it's my
pleasure to invite you to join us as we open for Orange County Hardcore
legends, IGNITE at the Brixton South Bay July 16th AND to welcome us home from
our summer tour at Keegan's on August 28th when we open for VOODOO GLOW SKULLS.
we hope that we continue
to see our biggest supporters out in the trenches for these big shows, it is
always appreciated and it wouldn't hurt if you posted this on your page for a
few days either... (wink wink). for those of you a bit outside our hometown
reach, fear not-our summer tour is under construction right now, so we'll see
you on the road soon enough.

may, may, just go away...
good afternoon to the
ranks of the black army (that's you!)..
so may is just about done
and it's already been quite a while since last we spoke.
we have been home from the
desert'eid 2010 tour about seven weeks or so and to put it mildly, our
collective world has been through the ringer. those on the inner circle know
that it has been a particularly tough month but the boys in black have soldiered
through it all.
after keegan's last
saturday with DEATH BY STEREO, we are at 30 shows on the calendar year and
staring down the barrell of a heavily loaded june lineup. in no way is that a
complaint, we chose this life and we are really starting to see what it takes
to distinguish yourself as band who comes through every single time without
fail.
in case you hadn't heard,
eric eken's wife, juliana will be giving birth to their baby, affectionately
named B.A. (we think it's like BA BARACUS, but really, it means Baby Almanza)
sometime in late june, or july. we look forward to that little bundle of joy
who's gender is still a mystery to us...
back to the work, as it
were-
as stated, june is going
to be a giant month in our universe and we hope that you will partake in the
fun. not only does june mark ursula eken's birthday (june 2nd), but sets all
over the southland.

it's pretty awesome
knowing we have made enough of an impression on the scene that we get to share
the stage with the best up and coming local acts as well as heavy hitters like
DEATH BY STEREO, AUTHORITY ZERO, and IGNITE (july 16th), all of whom are
amazing and humble guys who'd just as soon share a beer as share the stage with
us. still though, it's been a harrowing few weeks and we need all our friends,
fans, and brothers in bands to know how much we appreciate everything you each
have done to support us.
it's going to be a hell of
a summer spent writing, playing, and preparing for the quickly approaching tour
in august where we'll head to the east coast via the southwest and deep south
to reunite with our bros, THE BASTARD SUNS.
long story a bit shorter,
thank you each and all. looking forward to all the moments and memories we'll
share and the few that we'll forget over the course of these next few
weeks/months. we love hearing from you, so go ahead and give us a shout.

word around HQ is that the
desert'EID tour 2010 is a go. vanny ramirez is all gassed up, the women and
children have been put to bed, and the boys are ready to go hunting.
9 days, 8 cities, 4 band members, 3 states, 2 time zones, and 1 mean road trip equals a recipe for adventure, courtesy of the hardest working band in south bay. tell a friend or get your ass on the road and meet up with us. at the very least, follow the damn tour on our twitter page. (that's what the kids do now, they "tweet") EID on twitter (follow us!)
at the very least, you'll
get the daily updates on all the mis-adventures we get ourselves into and have
a laugh. ps, if you have any suggestions of things to do or check out while we
are on the road to help us fill the hours of the day when we are not driving or
playing, let us know, we are definetley in unfamiliar territory most of the
tour.
keep an eye out and an ear
to the ground for all that we have coming up when we get home, it's been a
great year that's getting better by the day.

Happy New Year!!! What's up ladies and gents?! Well, this January marks 2 solid years as a band for EKEN
IS DEAD! Yes time has flown by, and it seems like our first show was only a few
months ago. This year we played 66 shows ranging from beautiful San Diego,
California to Vancouver, British Columbia to El Paso, Texas and all the states
in between! In 2 years we've played almost 115 small clubs, independently
booked on our own, and released our full length album Amendment. We were
fortunate enough to support Ignite and Authority Zero on some great shows and
rock the House of Blues Anaheim! We've met some awesome new people along the
way, and want to thank all the new friends and old friends, including the
bands, for supporting us through our infancy. You might ask what's next for
EID? Well before the end of the 2010, expect a brand new full length album from
us for starters! We have about 3 songs done, some of them you have heard live,
and the responses have been great! We have 3 more rough songs we are working on
and plan to knock those out soon. We also plan to tour the Southwest in March
and the East Coast in the Summer! Look out for those show dates!! We'd love to
hear your opinions about our future endeavors. Please message us or leave us

with some pretty awesome news out of the EID universe...
first off, on november
20th, we will celebrate vic eken's dirty thirty bday. he's kinda sad about the
prospect of growing up (we doubt it will actually ever come to that) but still,
to honor the poor bastard, we got together with SUE of SUEFLAY PRESENTS and put
together an evening at THE JOINT IN LA. to make things even more interesting,
we are calling it THE BLACK ARMY GOES WHITE where everyone is to wear as much
white as possible because our friend VICTOR MARSHALL will be shooting you in
all your gear as we pack the house and destroy one of the first stages the EKEN
boys ever played. those pics are going to be used for the upcoming album and
other fun stuff so come see and be seen. SUE has even promised to hook up drink
specials that night so it should be pretty interesting to be part of. the band
has advance tix available right now.
get this...
on vic's ACTUAL bday (the
21st) the EID crew will trek out to TEMPE ARIZONA to play a set with friends
and punk icons AUTHORITY ZERO. that's right, AUTHORITY ZERO hosts EID at CLUB
RED in TEMPE which is sure to be an unreal night of mayhem. the invitation is
open, who wants to roll out there with us?
last, after you all have
eaten your turkey day feast, EID invites you out to the 3rd annual DKF SOCCER
TOURNAMENT. it's to honor our fallen brother and get everyone together for a
little futbol fun. check it out!
The boys in black would like to announce that they will be playing at the world famous "Knitting Factory" in Hollywood on Saturday, September 12th @ 10:30pm. Lt. alvarez here with a very exciting update for the members of the black army...
first off, the show at HOUSE OF BLUES ANAHEIM was simply unreal. a hundred or so of our closest friends and family made it out in addition to the other several hundred people who were hanging out that night. the boys in black came out and jammed a relentless set to the delight of the rabid fans all over the venue. from the balconies to the pit, everyone went hog wild with the boys playing the soundtrack to the evening.
photos and links are starting to trickle in now, but so far the winner is MISS ARIELLE DAVIS, who filmed several kick ass videos from stage right and it looks phenomenal. most of the time when people film live shows, the sound is distorted because of the volume, but this one sounds sick. click the link and check it out....

good day fine people, long time no talk. lieutenant alvarez, minister of sinister and all kinds of communication for eken is dead checking in just shy of a week out on the NORTHWEST NIGHTMARE 2009 TOUR.
where everything begins and everything ends is nothing short of a blur. talking to the boys, it's pretty clear that the first show back in sacramento feels a world away after the kind of week they have had. don't get it twisted though, it has been absolutely incredible. we have met some incredible bands, amazing fans, and for lack of better word, found the newest addition of the EID family in seattle. for those of you who haven't gotten to know FORCED ELEGANCE, they are a bad ass crew of rock and rollas who have taken amazing care of us. in addition to partaking in more than a few shall we say, misadventures with us, their managers TRACIE and DARRYL have opened their home up to us we destroy every stage we can find. it has been a ridiculous amount of fun and thoroughly documented. keep an eye out for the youtube videos that are sure to find their way online soon enough.
tonight the boys play their final stop in washington as they play the CENTRAL SALOON. we found out that it is in fact the oldest bar (1892 i believe) in seattle. after that, we cross international lines to jam in vancity with none other than RAISED BY APES.
no doubt once we sift through all the pics and footage, we can post a little more detailed storyline of our adventure, but not yet. this is just a hello how are ya so you remember that we love you. that's it for now, you alls be cool and keep praying for our souls, the hardest part is about to begin. thanks for checkin in on us!

happy new year's to you all from eken is dead headquarters. all members have
checked in and are accounted for, zero casulties but plenty of battle scars as
the boys in black begin their destruction of 2009. it will be an insanely busy
year and to get it started off right with a smile, EID will be stopping in at
their local favorite Dipiazza's with an all ages show. new friends
STRIPMALL MARTINI will also be jamming along with others. as for EID, there has
been talk of a sneak preview
of a new tune that is rumored to be a possibility for the upcoming BLACKSOUND
release. come check it out and see if the reports are accurate...
this just in...
EKEN IS DEAD will be joining south bay favorites BY ALL MEANS and san diego
powerhouse CANOBLISS for a special free show at KEEGAN'S in honor of the
baddest bouncer around, MANNY who celebrates his birthday that night. get your
ass in the pit and show MANNY some love.
next after that, EID will be hosting a very special evening in
you may be thinking to yourself, what is all this invasion talk. well, to close
out the month, EID decided to complicate matters even more as the next long
awaited mini tour has been confirmed. this time around, the boys head east
invading, raping, pillaging, and plundering
as you can tell by january alone, EID will be pushing a furious pace in 2009.
be sure to hit the boys up whenever you get a minute, they cannot do this

So thanks
to all the new friends we met this Friday at Hogue Barmichaels. Thanks to the eken black army for killing it
and packing the party bus! ! Thanks to you guys and the awesome bands that
helped get 280 people at the door that night !!! Even with the Strung Out show
going on the place was fucking packed!!! We had a blast ! Lots of good footage
was recorded too. That footage will be used for our upcoming video Condition ..... We spent all
of yesterday recording the rest in LA. Things are looking really good, a big thanks to Sylvia Sether for
dealing with us for about 7 hours of rocking the same song over and over
again ! We will be releasing it in late January.
No shows this week, but we will be working on finishing up a new song to play
live for you at DiPiazzas Thursday Dec 18th. That show will be played with awesome bands pour habit , skyline
collapse, and allura!!! Don' t miss that one!
Special news: This Saturday Chris will be playing in a Torrance High Alumni Soccer game at Torrance High soccer/ football field played in honor of Daniel Frank at 6pm. We will all be there to support as you should too. Afterward, we will be hanging out at Sully's in Torrance, Chris 's
cover band BROKE ASS will be playing from 9- close.
So you would think 29 is
old enough to know better, but clearly it's not and yet again vic rolls the
dice... Friday November 21st, Hogue Barmichael's, Newport Beach, the
scene of the killing of yet another stage on the nonstop destruction of 2008 by
the criminals, EKEN IS DEAD. to complicate matters even more, the boys is black
have opted to give their fans their own party bus to and from the show. $25
gets you a seat on the bus and a ticket to the biggest show of the season as
EKEN IS DEAD hosts their great friends from San Diego, CANOBLISS and fellow

It's done! amendment, the first full length LP from eken is dead is finally done being mixed and mastered. The disc was couried under a heavy security detail this morning to be pressed for release on 07.03.08 @ Kilkenny's in Redondo Beach. Be a patriot and pick up this album for the 4th of July. Only terrorists would refuse to buy this album.

so the hardest working band is up to it again. eken is dead will be hitting the studio over the next month to record a full length album entitled amendment. The disc will include 10 tracks and the boys in black have already figured out the track list: 1.) On Pause 2.) RTB 3.) Rock Bottom 4.) untitled 5.) Affliction 6.) Falls 7.) The Glue (DKF) 8.) Amendment 9.) Shackled 10.) Condition. The release date for the album is 07.03.08. On that date e.i.d. is planning a CD Release party @ Kilkenny's in Redondo Beach. Get your affairs in order.

eken is dead is proud to announce it's first run of officially licensed t-shirts. Some bootleg t-shirts were showing up at recent shows so the boys in black decided to take this matter into their own hands. The logo printed on the shirt is below and sizes range from Youth M - L - XL and Adult M - L - XL. T-shirts will be sold @ every show for $10 or you can request one from your friendly neighborhood e.i.d. member.

On February 7th 2008, eken is dead invaded Huntington Beach to participate in the 2008 Orange County Music Awards. The boys in black came and rocked the mother fuckin' house. A panel of 7 judges deemed their performance good enough to move them to round #2. That performance will be held on Sunday - March 16, 2007 - 7:30PM @ DiPiazza's in Long Beach. After much speculation, hearsay, and rumor it can now be confirmed that eken is dead is back. Fronted by new lead singer Chris Navarrete eken is dead announces several upcoming shows beginning with one on 01.31.08 @ The Blue Cafe in Long Beach. For more info check out the show info page. The e.i.d. camp is also releasing news that a new 3 song ep will be out by show time and is titled the dead ascend ep. The ep will be free for all fans of eken is dead.
